In this guide you will find information and links to relevant resources available through St Vincent's Healthcare Group Libraries.

This guide has been designed to support students undertaking undergraduate and postgraduate courses in all areas of leadership and management, as well as students of the hospital-based accredited programmes.

SVHG/UCD Accredited Courses

SVHG together with its academic partner offers 2 accredited programmes annually to enable staff to development their management and leadership skills. These programmes, accredited by UCD, form 10 credits on the equivalent of a Level 8 programme on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ). 

1) Management & Professional Development Programme

This programme is aimed at providing staff with great knowledge of themselves & others to improve their overall effectiveness. It is suitable for individuals who do not currently have direct people management responsibility as part of their role but who wish to enhance their self-management & personal effectiveness. It is also relevant for individuals aspiring to be in a management role in the medium term. Staff Nurses with at least 2 years’ experience are also welcome to apply. The course commences every September. Application forms are available from HR with a closing date at the end of May.

2) Leadership & Management Development Programme

This programme is intended to develop the knowledge, skills & abilities of our people in key areas of management and leadership. It is suitable for individuals who have management experience, newly appointed managers, and/or those wishing to progress into a line management role in the short-term. The course commences every September, application forms are available from HR with a closing date at the end of May.
